Annapurna basecamp is located at 4,200-m altitude. There are six expedition teams camping here at the moment with climbers coming from about ten different countries.
Our team has two spacious tents which we share among four of us. Our daily routine so far has been having breakfast at around 8 am, go for a hike, take a nap, and spend the rest of the day chatting with Sherpas and other climbers. We stay up until 11 am. The evenings are freezing cold whereas the days are warm and sunny.
At the basecamp, most of our activities take place inside the mess tent. It’s here we eat, watch movies, charge devices, and use internet. The kitchen staff works tirelessly to provide us with fresh and delicious meals. Throughout the day, they keep feeding us with soups, tea, and other snacks.
Tomorrow morning, Sherpas will hold a Puja ceremony at the basecamp before climbing the mountain. Our climbers Sirbaz Khan and Abdul Joshi will join them to the higher camp. They will be first team on the mountain this season establishing route. It is going to take our team about five to six hours to reach the Camp 1 (5,500m) where they will spend a night and then return to the basecamp the next day.
